That's the theme for the next years ESC, and the logo for the theme (aka not the official logo) is all pink and lovely. I love it! Nothing can top Finlands theme though - true fantasy. I adore that theme. Anyway, good going Norway, just make sure you make a kick ass stage as well and we'll be proud, I swear!

Peter Jöback confirmed as the third MF joker

It was revealed on SVT:s Kulturnyheterna this evening that singer and musical artist Peter Jöback will be the third joker in Melodifestivalen

As previously mentioned this is a huge deal.. yes it might even triumph Darins participation.

Peter Jöback is regarded as being one of Sweden’s best male vocalists, he's gay and EVERYBODY loves him.

And hear this, his song is called "Hollow" - a powerballad written by Fredrik Kempe and Anders Hansson

What does this mean, you might ask yourself.

WELL, IT MEANS THAT HE MIGHT ASWELL TAKE THE DAMN TROPHY RIGHT NOW! Poor, poor Darin ;(

Okay fine, I admit that I'm infact quite excited by this news.. can't say the same for Sandy, who has probably killed herself by now.

Alcazar does MF again!

Yes, it's now official that we'll see this fabulous trio on the MF stage 2010.
They just can't get enough! But we can.

The entry "Headlines" written by Tony Nilsson and Peter Boström has been given to Alcazar, after some complications and disagreements between SVT and the songwriters. (sound familiar?)

This time SVT wanted Linda Bengtzing and the songwriters wanted September.
The latter is of course way too cool for Melodifestivalen and said thanks, but no thanks. WHY, PETRA, WHYYY? ;(

Ok, ok I'm not gonna cry. Let's not forget that Darin is coming to our rescue and he's gonna show us all how it's done <3

So it seems Alcazars participation is the result of some sort of compromise. Their desperation is becoming slightly annoying, but I have to confess I LOVED "Stay The Night" so as long as they continue in the same spirit and not go all "YOU CAN BE AN ALCASTAR" again - I'll approve.

Four live shows for Albania

Albania likes quantity more than quality, eh. No sorry, that was rude. Anyway, their NF - Festival i Kenges (or something similar) - will start on December 24th (like anyone outside of Albania would have time to watch it) and end on the 27th. It looks like Albania will be, once again, the first country to announce their song for Oslo.

I have no idea who the singers that are taking part are buuuuut Kejsi Tola, from this year, will participate again. Maybe she'll ditch the clowns and the lizzard man, if we're lucky. Although I'd have to admit that it would be sort of epic if she sang a powerballad and the clowns just appeared from nowhere. Ooooh, please let them be in the show! I take what I said before back. They're awesome.

Aftonbladet reports that Peter Jöback is one of the two remaining jokers and that his song is a 'winning song'. These reports haven't officially been confirmed, but let's just take a moment and pretend that they're right.

I'm happy about Ola taking part in Melodifestivalen this year - he's so darn cute. His 2008 song was great too (ahem, I still sing it in the shower, not ashamed at all) so hopefully next year will be good as well and hopefully take him to the MF final. I wouldn't really expect him to get a top 3 or anything there though, I mean... He's competing with Darin. D-A-R-I-N! The MF 2010 winner who'll defend the blue-yellow colors in Oslo.

Aaaah, he's so cute! What did he do to his hair though? We'll need to have a serious talk about that.

No, I'm not talking about Davor Ebner... Ok, lame joke. SORRY DAVOR. I LOVE YOU. He does look pretty short though, eh? These posts will contain smaller updates so that we wont have to spam your sorry asses all the time. It's just really desperate, right?

Finland releases songs online. You can listen to them here. I dont know though - there's not really a new Lordi in there, is it? Sorry Finland, no victory for you next year either.
Our southern neighbours Denmark have announced the hosts for their NF next year. I'd write them all up but really - they're nobodies. You'd never know who they were.
The leader of the betting odds in Ireland of who'll represent them in Oslo next year is no other than Niamh Kavanagh who won the contest back in 1993. If theres any real reason for this bookie success will be revealed sooner or later, wont it? Second on the odds are the Jedwards!! If you have no idea what I'm talking about... Just YT John & Edward X-factor. A-m-a-z-i-n-g.

February 7th: NF of the Netherlands

As previously written, 'Father Abraham' (HAHAHAHHA I still love that name) will write the Dutch entry for 2010, and now more information about the selection process has been confirmed.

On January 31st the artists competing for the ticket to Oslo will be presented and a week later, on February 7th, a winner will be selected by the song composer.

As I've already stated.. Just don't send De Toppers and I'll be fine. Really! Just no De Toppers. 2009 was more than enough, okay?

This kinda reveals my feelings about them.

Norway speculations

First of all - TACK TACK TACK TACK!! to whoever put us on the front page of blogg.se! Real big surprise and shock, but thaaaaank you! And I hope we'll keep one or two of the 250 new readers who found their way here today :)

Back to business, ey? Rumors and speculations are surrounding Melodi Grand Prix 2010 - the national selection of our dear neighbours, and next years Eurovision hosts, Norway. There haven't been any confirmations so far about who'll participate (at least I haven't seen any but that could be that I haven't looked at the right places) but there's a list spreading around forums with rumored artists.

Some interesting names are A1, Maria Haukaas Storeng and Lene Alexandra. A1 are a british boyband (with a Norwegian band member) who were sort of big in the beginning of the 00's, which I had a huge crush on btw. I love their song Same old brand new you so I'm totally excited to see if they'll actually participate. Who wants to bet they'll actually win? Maria Haukaas Storeng will, according to this list, be returning to MGP next year. She participated in Belgrade with the song Hold on be strong that reached fifth place, a placing that people didn't think Norway would top in a while.. Well, the next year they won. Do I need to say more? And finally Lene Alexandra will apparently be back as well. She's the busty glamour model who participated in MGP in 2008 with the song Sillycone Valley and is now back to claim her title.

If this is accurate or not we'll find out sooner or later but I'm really hoping it is. A1, A1, A1, A1!!!

You might recognize some of those names - Ola, Jessica Andersson and Andreas Johnson have all participated before! The latter(s) certainly doesn't have the word "give up" in their vocabulary, this is their FOURTH time in MF.

Jessica won as part of the duo "Fame" back in '03, since then she has been nothing but a burden. Andreas has given us two very nice songs that both fell at the finish line..and his 3rd entry with Carola is something we all want to forget. (including him)

We can also see that Linda Pritchard has been given "You're Making Me Hot Hot Hot" which Linda Bengtzing earlier was rumoured for. Was the rumour simply false or was Linda ditched for the other Linda?

For those of you who have no idea who this chick is - she participated in Swedish idol '08, but didn't get that far - much to my dismay 'cause this one can really sing, and most importantly - she's hot.

Serbia puts a ban on shoes

Hahah, no. Not really. But almost.

Apparently Serbia is heading for an internal selection next year due to the past years scandals in their national selection for Eurovision, Beovizija.

I don't have all the information on the drama but if I remember correctly there have been corrupt juries (are we surprised?) and something about someone screwing up last year and making two qualifiers not qualify. Yeah, I know, it's a bit messy.

To make it a little bit more interesting, they seem to be leaning towards sending the rock group Negative to Oslo, which would actually mean that they once again step away from their sleeping pills ballads. We'll let you know when there's more information available!

Dutch song composer known

And it's this really old dude named Father Abraham? HAHAHA. OMG. I love Eurovision. He has previously written the Smurf Song (it's gonna take me hours to write this with all the laugh attacks) and holds the record for best selling Dutch composer ever, apparently. No further information has been released by the broadcaster, however, the song will be performed in Dutch. Yay for that! I'm sick and tired of English in Eurovision, countries should embrace their languages and not perform in really bad English (this is mostly aimed at Russia and Ukraine though. Belarus has done well for themselves; their performances are generally in decent English -cough-cough-since 2008-cough-cough- even if the singer doesn't speak a word of it!)

Whatever you do, do not send De Toppers again. If you thought the Texas Chainsaw Massacre was brutal, you should watch De Toppers performance. Geez. I still haven't watched the whole performance to this day because I have to stop the video about 90 seconds into it.

Anyway, good luck the Netherlands! Hopefully the JESC win has recandled the spark for you.

If I could change one thing in ESC

It would be the Danish entry this year. I liked Believe again, but O-M-G why didn't they send Sukkerchok?! The most amazing song I've ever heard. DET DET!

Ok, it's actually the second thing I'd change about ESC. First thing would be to make Macedonia win this year. I'm so completely in love with Next Time it's unreal - they deserved victory!! Or at least a qualification. Oh well, let's enjoy a sugar rush.

Recap of this past week

Because I suck (Mandy has actually tried to revive the blog! She's getting a cake later. Carrot cake. I'm pretty sure she doesn't like it, so more for me -nods-) the latest news have been ignored. GASP! I know, I know. But here's a nifty little recap of what has happened for the past week or so;

The Netherlands won Junior Eurovision Song Contest. It seems pretty impossible, doesn't it? A western country winning JESC which is about ten times worse than ESC in regards of neighbourvoting? Ralf won with the song Click Clack which is incredibly catchy if you ask me. 'Listen to it on YouTube five times a day for the past week' catchy. Belgium came in 4th, even though it was a hot hot hot favorite for the win (or was it? On forums it was. Apparently yodeling (how the hell to you spell that anyway?) done by a little girl is a recipe for success). Russia and Armenia came in joint second place. We're not surprised, at all. Mega big thanks for Macedonia for only giving Armenia 1 point!! It made my evening, really.
Belgium chose their artist. Some dude named Tom Dice (HAHAHAHA, epic name!) who's an X-factor reject who will definitely qualify to the final in Oslo because thats the jury's big task in the semi-finals, bringing back loser countries such as Belgium, Switzerland and The Netherlands to the final. Too bad Andorra wont take part, we would've seen the tiny nation take part in the final for the first time!
Belarus' I-have-no-idea-if-we-should-call-it-a-NF contest has continued. To be honest I have no idea what it's all about. It seems to be a way to make people feel like they're actually helping Belarus choosing an entry for ESC? Even though the president will re-do the NF if he doesn't like the winning song. You've gotta love dictators!
Oh, and MGP Nordic took place yesterday. Personally I didn't watch it, personally I don't care and personally I think it's a waste of money. Apparently a Swede won though, yay for that! See, this is just a warm up for Oslo next year. GOOOO DARIN!

And that's about it really, I'll do better with updates from now on. Sort of.

MF entry disqualified

The MF entry "Åt Helvete För Sent" has been disqualified.

Why? Well, to make a long story short - because SVT are a-holes with bad judgement.

Apparently the songwriters and SVT strongly disagreed on which artist the song should be given to.
Songwriters wanted Sara Löfgren, SVT wanted Rikard Wolff.

“- The situation is very unfortunate, but our decision is logically simple. Melodifestivalens rules are indisputable: if you are in the competition you accept that SVT has the final say in the choice of artist. If you pull the rug out form under the artist that SVT has chosen, you no longer respect the rules you accepted when you chose to apply for this contest, says Thomas Hall, project manager of Melodifestivalen 2010.”
